A chemical refinery operation in the middle of a large integrated site represented the biggest bottleneck in the complex. During the EIO project that focused on their biggest challenges the EIO team identified tens of millions of dollars in potential improvements. One of the best solutions resulted in $8 million in savings for a nominal $300,000 in incremental investment on a distillation column they were planning to upgrade. The process manager was excited about the improvements and grateful that he had a set of solutions that were going to de-bottleneck the plant with a relatively low capital investment.
